Does Attraction Marketing Work?

Does attraction marketing work? This is a question I hope to answer with your help, over the next couple of months. First, a little background on me. 

You may have noticed that there have been a lot of changes here recently. I have been using this blog recently to experiment with my branding and my blogging tech skills…

I am starting a new blog which will be my permanent home, and will provide the most exceptional value I can offer based on all that I’ve learned about internet marketing, network marketing, blogging, social media and SEO 2.0 during my journey as an internet business entrepreneur.

It’s been a wonderful journey during the past 6 months at my newest online venture. I thank you, the reader, who has made this blog so popular. My attraction marketing system has taught me powerful lessons.

I have been able to achieve Alexa rankings on both this blog, and my previous blog, where I have cracked the top 200,000 sites and the top 1% of sites within 2 months of starting them.

Yet I still don’t believe I have provided the level of value I would like to offer to you, my esteemed reader.

Prior to that time, I ran two free blogs as well. On the plus side, I have learned a lot about creating blogs and driving traffic to them.

Recently I have made some phenomenal discoveries and connections that enable me to take things to a whole new level. They give me the ability to empower you in the ways I’d always hoped to, when starting this blog.

I also wanted to create an income for myself, as my family’s income from an industry I’d been in for 20 years dried up and disappeared in August of 2009.

The real challenge for the inspired entrepreneur who has the persistence and the grand vision to achieve their desired results in the face of all challenges has been to find something that will truly meet their requirements and serve their purpose…without wasting tons of time and money.

Thankfully, I now have a wealth of additional experience to write about which includes many lessons, as well as results both succesful and not.

I have also masterminded with, and shared personal experiences with, some of the most creative and hard working attraction marketers in my company. 

I ask you, if you would like to do so, to reach me and relate your experiences whether productive or non-productive, with your attraction marketing system and the training found within.

Most of the articles I will be posting on this site in the future will be dedicated to interviews with founders/users of various attraction marketing systems and their experiences with, results from and personal opinions of them.

Everyone is invited, regardless of your system, or what you have achieved.

If you did not stick with what you were doing for at least 90-180 days please don’t bother, as you did not commit at a level necessary to truly experience or realize the effectiveness or potential of your system.

If you put in 1000 hours plus working diligently to learn and apply what you were being taught, then I would love to speak with you…

Do you have a success mindset?

3300 studies of leaders have shown the one trait that all of them have in common is vision. I had an amazingly successful home meeting last night. It was valuable not just in monetary terms but in the lessons reinforced. I’d like to speak with you today about those lessons.

There was a person there who is absolutely exceptional in what it is that he does for a living. He should be making easily ten to a hundred times what he makes just due to his exceptional skills and talents in his area of expertise.

What is unfortunate is that he is not doing so. It’s not due to lack of enough skills, talent, training, education or any of these classic reasons people have for not achieving their dreams or vision. The reasons given me were lack of money and lack of time.

What is truly missing is that success mindset. He is very successful and I respect what he has achieved. What touches me is that this person is capable of so much more.

This is true of so many other exceptional entrepreneur friends who I have watched struggle for 5, 10, even 15 years or more. 

In the book I’ve just written, which I am in the process of re-writing and editing, as well my last series of posts, I’ve spoken of the importance of that success mindset.

The largest measures of that success mindset are your belief and vision. Belief and vision go hand in hand. 

You can have a vision so big that it actually demotivates and demoralizes you rather than motivates and energizes you. I do believe what Napoleon hill said in his book “Think and Grow Rich” -

“Whatever the mind can can conceive and believe it can achieve.”

One of the keys to this is not to set goals for yourself that are so outlandish that you can not believe them.

However, I believe where a large percentage of people fail is not having vision. It has certainly been shown in massive amounts of research, as I stated in the beginning of this post, that where there is greatness there is vision.

Most people do greatly over estimate what they can achieve in a year, but they greatly underestimate what they can achieve in 5 years. 

What I would like for you to grasp today is that your level of achievement can be severely limited by your vision. Almost everyone alive has doubled or tripled their income one or several times in life, if you’ve been working for any length of time. There is absolutely no reason for you not to continue to do so.

Billionaire Bill Bartmann went from dead broke on the streets to assets of $485 million and one of the Forbes list of the richest men in America in a little over 5 years. He had a crystal clear vision, the belief he would do so, and then set some goals. He set out on the path and achieved his goals and vision.

If a homeless, alcoholic street gang member who did not graduate high school and was told he would never amount anything in life can achieve this, becoming one of the most respected business men in America, being named entrepreneur of the year twice…

what can you do?

Create a success mindset.

 Create your vision today and believe in yourself. Set some goals and create a plan, then set your foot on the path today.

MLM Professional Essentials

Every phenomenally successful network marketing professional we have had on the line has agreed that personal development is a huge part of your potential for exceptional achievement.

In fact, if I broke down everything covered within the last five posts into it’s simplest terms, it would be that exceptional achievement in our industry boils down to two aspects.

There are many aspects that are all synergistic in effect. I covered all of those especially relevant to achieving exceptional results at any endeavor in the series.

All these synergistic aspects flow from two root sources -

  • Personal Development
  • Connecting

If you are not connecting with people every day, and doing some regular personal development, you should not be an entrepreneur.

Personal development and continuous learning enables you to always improve your mindset and relevant skill sets, such as connecting.

Connecting with people every day enables you to contimually add to your product sales, and most importantly your residual income.

It does not even matter if your connecting immediately adds a product sale or new member to your team.

What matters in connecting is that you do it well, and are always connecting.

If you continually become better at all that you do and continually connect and build relationships, eventually your network marketing business will take on a life of its own…

Hello MLM professional! So far we have covered the two essential elements that help you create the right mindset – your beliefs/philosophy and your vision.

There are other qualities of a great mindset, but without these two essentials, your chance of exceptional success is greatly diminished. In Napoleon Hill’s timeless book on success and the building of wealth he gives some fundamental principles or steps.

Some of them are desire, specialized knowledge, imagination, organized planning, persistence, decision, masterminds, using the subconscious mind (now referred to as the superconscious mind).

With respect to the MLM professional or any other type of entrepreneur, in depth study and ongoing personal development is essential. This is why I recommended Napoleon Hill’s book and others for more in depth study.

This is also why the one essential daily habit to achieve success in anything where you dream of greatness is personal development. Continuous learning of the simple principles and the specialized knowledge relevant to your field is an absolute necessity.

However, many of us over-complicate things today. There is an epidemic of analysis paralysis and indecisiveness that occurs while researching this or looking up that. It’s not really your fault, there is a massive amount of data that we are bombarded with on a daily basis.

What we require in an MLM business, or any other, is to focus on the actions and skill sets that produce the greatest returns with most of our time and with our best energy.

With respect to becoming a top producing MLM professional there is one skill set you require to develop above all others. There is much debate over which method of this skill set is most effective.

Indeed choosing the methods that offer the most leverage are essential for maximum results. Here is the problem with this debate.

People spend so much time and energy on this debate, and waste so much money trying to find magic bullets that they miss the forest for the trees.

The one skill set you require to cultivate above all others is the ability to connect, to communicate, to build relationships. It does not matter your field, it has been found in study after study that 85% of success and income is determined by your ability to connect and communicate.

Even with this general knowledge about business and the workplace, and with every MLM professional that makes $25,000, $100,000, $400,000 or MILLIONS per month telling us this simple truth, we often spend most of our time in our MLM business doing everything but connecting or learning how to be better communicators.

Over the course of my business career, and my journey as an entrepreneur I have accumulated a wealth of knowlege and much incredibly valuable experience.

The most important and useful thing I can tell you is that as much value as specialized knowledge has, it’s really the understanding and application of the most basic of timeless principles that have the greatest impact on your success.

I learn much every day, but my life becomes simpler. If you keep chipping away at the non essentials and become exceptional at the most basic things that matter most you will achieve dreams beyond measure.

For your ultimate success as an MLM professional or entrepreneur do this -

I. MINDSET. Start with right MINDSET, improving it continuously through personal development.

  • First have the right BELIEF, taking responsibility for your situation and results; acccepting that there are simple principles proven to work by those who already have what you want. Commit to making those principles habit.
  • Create a crystal clear VISION of specifically what you will do, be and/or have, with a specific date, and create a plan to get there.
  • Glue your BELIEF to your VISION with an unshakeable DESIRE. (Your vision will be a guide for the necessary thousands or millions of course corrections to your plan along the journey). 

II. IMPROVE. Execute with complete commitment the practice of daily IMPROVE – ment.

  • Personal development to improve mindset.
  • Continuous learning to improve your skill set.

III. CONNECT. Find the simple principles (or skill sets) for your field. Execute them a set amount of time daily, every day.

  • For the MLM professional, these principles are connecting with a certain number of people daily and exposing them to your business.
  • You will require a relationship or rapport of some sort, before you expose people to your MLM business.

There are myriad ways to connect. You can learn the most cutting edge methods of internet marketing, you can utilize many different types of social media, you can use any number of offline methods of connecting with and exposing people to your business.

Some methods will give you far more leverage than others. However, if you are not connecting with the right amount of quality, targeted people for your desired results per day, you have completely missed the point of network marketing.

If what I just said feels like an accusation, or what I say below feels the same, understand that what I write comes from experience and self-observation. These realizations came about observing what I was doing wrong and what others were doing right.

If you do not start with the right beliefs/philosophy and a clear vision you are adrift in a sea of delusion…

Can You Be An MLM Professional?

Can I be an MLM professional, and still have the ethics and integrity I had as a professional in the traditional business world? What you may not realize is that there is a tidal wave of professionals from all fields moving into the MLM business today.

Many of the professionals who have no real knowledge of the industry are asking some important questions. 

Is MLM a pyramid scheme?

Is MLM a ponzi scheme? 

Will getting into an MLM business destroy my reputation as a professional?

These are all very important questions. If you are a respected business person or community member, you certainly don’t want to ruin your reputation or compromise your integrity for a new business or side income.

When I left sales in corporate America, being someone who was very committed to integrity in all my dealings, I was extremely concerned about a lot of these common questions.

I did not have an in depth understanding of the network marketing business model and how to differentiate a legitimate MLM business from a thinly disguised pyramid scheme.

I did not want to get involved with something dishonest, or that would damage my reputation and credibility.

I had been involved in several online businesses, and also been exposed to the network marketing industry. I had been a customer of some products and had looked at a few opportunities.

Some of the techniques used to try and recruit me seemed a little mis-leading and created some concern for me about the integrity of the people involved. I did quite a bit of research before joining a primary MLM business.

What I discovered was business model that was extremely fair, in fact a great equalizer. There were little to no requirements with regard to:

  • Race
  • Education
  • Previous Experience
  • Age
  • Background
  • Starting Capital

In addition, there were not many limits geographically. Anyone that starts as a new MLM professional also starts at the top of their own organization.

There is not any other business I am aware of where you start as CEO & President with the lack of limitations above, and can do so with limited capital of $50, $100 or $200.

Compare that with one of the top franchises like Subway:

  • About $1.2 Million up frontto start
  • Long hours first 1-2 years, likely with no profit
  • $30,000-40,000 per year profit once established
  • $100,000-150,000 cash with sale after 4-5 years
  • Best chance of success by very experienced entrepreneur

Granted, one of the reasons large numbers of people don’t succeed as an MLM professional is that they have no entrepreneurial experience.

However, the complexity of skills required is very low and many of the things you are required to do as a traditional business owner are handled by your network marketing company.

In fact, the reason most people do not have success with their new MLM business is because, on average, they quit 63 days into the endeavor.

There aren’t many self-made businesses that show profit and are extremely successful in the first two months, especially for new business owners. Yet, people expect this with network marketing.

Certainly, this is somewhat due to hype and some reps mis-representing their opportunity. If you are new to the business, expect there to be a learning curve.

If you are a professional of some type, with a passion for excellence, then becoming an MLM professional could be a ticket to a huge passive, residual income, freedom and attainment of your dreams.

The skill sets are simple, but the mindset and habits required are exceptional. It is the perfect business for people who love people, and who who strive to be exceptional…

You get paid commensurate with what you put into it.

In a landmark Larry King interview with Tim Sales, the truth was exposed. Larry was one of Bernie Madoff’s victims and was very interested in the differences between a ponzi or pyramid schemes and legitimate netwoek marketing.

Larry agreed that Tim had answered all his questions and was satisified that MLM was one of the fairest business models availabe today.

Ponzi and pyramid schemes are just excuses to pass money around. The people at the top get rich and everyone else loses. With a legitimate MLM business, there must be actual products of value to the marketplace, not just pay for recruiting people.

It just might be for you…

Is personal development necessary for the MLM professional? We’ve discussed before that MLM success is elusive for most, and that 97% of those who start an MLM business never show a profit.

We also covered in the last two articles how the right beliefs and clarity of vision are essential to having real MLM success.

I mentioned that there is one action and a skill set that you require to have as daily habits in order to really have exceptional success. For some this is well known, and for others it is a well kept secret.

There have always been two businesses in network marketing. One involves your actual company or product, or network marketing. The other is the industry of personal development.

What is important to realize that continuous learning and personal development have always been inextricably linked to success in any field or endeavor, not just to being a successful MLM professional.

Brian Tracy and others have often talked of the many studies done of CEO’s, entrepreneurs, millionaires and billionaires, and what common themes are found in their success. Here is great Brian Tracy article on this for your reference -

Personal Development & Reading For Success

One of the most important commonalities is that leaders are readers. The average person in the USA reads less than 1 book per year and earns $20,000 per year, while the average CEO reads about 50 books per year and earns $1,000,000 per year.

Every top producing MLM professional I have heard speak or had on a call/webinar has agreed that those who have exceptional success, whether in six months or six years, have something in common.

They all invest a great deal of time, effort, money and energy into personal development and continuous learning.

A commitment to daily improvement in their skill sets and mindset is the one essential daily action that virtually every massive success at an MLM business has in common.

This action is not a new skill you require to learn, just something you must accept as a belief and then commit to make a daily habit through repetition.

Regardless of where you are in your journey, make a commitment to daily personal development and continuous learning to insure MLM success (or any type of achievement for that matter).

In fact, if you do not have the right beliefs, clarity of vision and a great self-image you may be well advised to begin work on your personal development even before you start your business.

My sponsor actually did years of  intensive daily personal development before starting his current MLM business, and has blown the world of internet network marketing wide open, achieving a fantastic level of MLM success in just five months.

Many people work for five years or more at their MLM business, never achieving his level of success.

As for myself, I had been getting more and more committed to personal development for many years prior to getting in this industry.

I have a blog and website that consistently rank around the top 1% of websites for traffic globally, with no prior experience in internet network marketing and very little knowledge of network marketing, before I started.

I credit a huge portion of my MLM success thus far to personal development and continuous learning.

The access to, and commitment to, such fantastic personal development and continuous learning as I receive through my current MLM business has been integral in my success.

I have moved from corporate professional to MLM professional, and would never go back.

A lot of people don’t make it based on their mindset, and having habits of daily personal development really helps with that issue. 

So far we have the two qualities or elements – right beliefs and clarity of vision. We also have the one daily action of personal develpoment - continuous learning.

Lastly, we have a skill set that is important to develop above all others, for any aspiring MLM professional. The action this skill set represents is the king of actions in your MLM business.

Hello MLM business professional! Have you been thinking about what the second essential element might be? Yesterday we spoke of starting with the right foundation, certain basic beliefs or philosophies.

There is one other essential element you require to achieve success in your MLM business or any other dream or goal you may have.

Obviously, we can’t know everything in advance, right? We can’t plan every little detail, because many things will happen that will require us to make adjustments on the journey.

We know we require a solid foundation to start from which is our beliefs, our acceptance and understanding of universal principles. We need one other essential element, no matter what actions or path we take.

The other essential element we require, in addition to our beliefs or philosophy, is a crystal clear vision of where we are going.

In Jeff Olson’s book, “The Slight Edge”, he speaks about how one of the most amazing, sophisticated pieces of engineering created by man, a rocket to the moon, is off course 97% of the time.

It requires constant corrections during it’s journey to reliably reach it’s destination. What is it then that is the guide?

It is a crystal clear vision that there is the moon and it’s specifically where I’m going.

In order for you to reach where it is you would like to be, you can’t know everything that will throw you off that path. You can, however, create a crystal clear vision of where you are going, so that you can make those constant corrections along the way.

Below is a quote from Brian Tracy’s “Focal Point” book on the importance of the quality of vision:

“In 3,300 studies of leadership, seeking for the common qualities possessed by great leaders throughout the ages, researchers found that the one quality all the studies had in common was the quality of vision. Leaders have vision.” 

So how do you do this and achieve exceptional MLM business success?

First, as Brian Tracy says in his book “Focal Point”, you need to engage in value clarification. You need to know what your core values are and make sure your vision is aligned with those core values.

For example, my most fundamental core values are -

  • A belief in lifelong learning & personal development
  • A passion for excellence
  • A belief in teamwork, masterminds & relationships
  • Prosperity & abundance for all through undivided integrity

I have more values, but everything flows from these. Once you are clear on your values, you create a crystal clear vision that is aligned with your values.

You then require to work backward from that vision to set goals that will measure how well you are performing along the way, and help you make the necessary course corrections in your journey.

As you can see, much of the in between stuff you will figure out between point A (your beliefs) and point B (your vision). (We’ll get more specific about the one daily action and the one skill set required to achieve massive success in your MLM business within the next two posts.)

Without both being honest about your beliefs and having a crystal clear vision of your destination, you may start far from where you need to start, or end up somewhere completely different than you would like to be.

If you have any doubt of this concept, most of us can look at our lives and see the undeniable truth in this.

If you are not where you would like to be today, it is most often because yesterday’s beliefs did not lead you to the necessary actions and/or you had no clear vision of where you were going.

And I’m not just picking on you, because this has certainly been true for me. I am still working to really distill my vision down to it’s ultimate level of clarity today. You can find the intitial overview post of this series here –

For the MLM business professional today, it is very important to start from with the proper foundation. I worked diligently to figure out what that was as I learned the network marketing business.

I ran across many things that were very important, but this is a little different than essential.

I would separate the two by saying that things which are important will not necessarily lead to success or failure if they are added or left out of your endeavor.

Essentials make what ever you are doing functional. Without the essentials in place, you can strive for a lifetime and still not move closer to what you are trying to achieve.

With respect to my MLM business, I realized that the essentials were almost a carbon copy of what has been essential to personal and business success for thousands of years.

Granted, there are always some actions or habits that are specific to what you are trying to achieve, but the basic principles ring true across different types of achievement and every industry.

The starting point is what we are going to discuss today. If you haven’t read the overview of this series you can read that here – MLM Business Professional

The first essential element or quality that you must develop or possess for MLM business success has been called by many different names. The most accurate descriptions, I believe, would be philosophy or beliefs. I will use the term beliefs.

Essential Beliefs

  1. Responsibility – All right beliefs start from the viewpoint that we are responsible. There is no blame, criticism or complaining. By taking reponsibility we claim complete command of our results.
  2. Learn the Simple Principles  - All achievement in any area is mostly based on learning a few simple disciplines that have been proven to work by others. This belief allows you to seek out the ones that have achieved the results you seek, find the simple disciplines they used, and make them habits.

 Accepting these beliefs as fact, and making them a philosophy of life allows you to tap into some essential principles that have remained constant for thousands of years or more.

The Law of Cause & Effect states that “Everything happens for a reason; for every effect there is a specific cause.” To achieve anything, you only to find the cause reponsible for that effect.

Remember that thoughts are causes and conditions are effects. The first thing you must look at is your belief.

Learning the simple principles is a perfect example. This has been proven true throughout time. Finding those simple principles for your area of achievement gives you the cause.

For MLM business success, you need only execute them daily and to the best of your ability, continually improving, so that they become habit. The effect will inevitably occur.

This takes advantage of the principle of exponential growth. Daily consistent actions repeated as habit, while the intitial changes are almost invisible, eventually lead to massive exponential growth.

For the quickest and surest path to access, accept these two beliefs and make them your philosophy.

Take responsibility for every result or condition in your life. Understand that your beliefs become thoughts become words become actions which repeated become habits.

Making habits of those simple principles that others have all used to achieve what you want to achieve is the starting point for achieving the desired effect.

Regardless of whether you are starting an MLM business or any other goal, this is your starting point.

My MLM business has really evolved and has been a catalyst for quite the transformation in me. For several years I had been dabbling as an entrepreneur, prior to becoming an MLM professional.

I never really had much success with any of these previous enterprises. I didn’t exactly know why, until recently.

I credit most of that realization to the focus on personal development and ongoing training that is an integral part of my current MLM business.

I realized that all success has two common elements you must develop or possess as an MLM professional. I also realized that there is one basic action and one skill set that must also become daily habits.

Regardless of your field of expertise, if you have achieved the pinnacle of success, you will be very strong in these two elements and two habits.

If you are not where you would like to be with respect to personal or business success, you will find a direct correlation based on your clarity and honesty about the two elements, and how consistent you are in these two habits.

The realization of this knowledge was enlightening for me as it laid my true potential in front of me for the taking. I only need reach out and grasp it.

It sounds simple, and it is. The problem with mastery of simple things is that they only take repetition to gain the skill and the benefits. Most of us find things that are so simple are also easy not to do.

Some of the simplest things are the most powerful. This is why I love quotes by great thinkers. The combination of power and simplicity has amazing potential for transformation.

With respect to success as an MLM professional or success in any other entrepreneurial endeavor it’s these simple essential elements and these simple essential habits that have always had the greatest impact on success or lack thereof.

We spend far too much time adding tools & activities to our repertoire in the desire for immediate network marketing success. Without proper focus on the above elements and creating these essential habits, continuing to add tools and activities is delusional.

If you want success at the highest levels, you must focus most of your resources on developing these two essential elements.

Once you have done so effectively, most of your resources should be focused on the essential action and essential skill set becoming habits. It’s really that simple, but most people do not accept this fact.

I say fact, because 60 years of network marketers and 100 plus years of direct sales entrepreneurs have repeated this process millions of times, creating proven results. These facts have also been present in nearly every entrepreneurial breakthrough outside of our industry.

Today’s new breed of MLM professional proves these facts, just as do the old school top producers, who year after year, continue to produce millions per year in income.

My friend, David Wood, who is the most successful newcomer to internet network marketing I’m aware of, has proven that this works just as effectively with today’s most cutting edge online strategies.

Mark Yarnell is still using these two essential elements and two habits just as effectively today with old school offline methods.

My MLM business and the personal development I’ve done as a part of it have definitely transformed my life. In the last 5 months I’ve made such a dramatic transformation that my self from 6 months ago probably would not believe it, had you told me then.

I have gone from serial entrepreneur to serious entrepreneur in just a few short months, after 8 years of dabbling at businesses on the side.

I finally realized that having a hobby of running businesses would never help me break free of my job. Running non-profit organizations from my home was not the solution to my challenges.

Here are some of the changes I’ve made -

  • How I deal with stress. I don’t take stress and sleep with it.
  • I no longer start my new day with stress that has been building for months or even years.
  • How I deal with daily irritations. I used to allow these to escalate to anger. It is extremely rare that anything irritating escalates to anything more now. This is extremely liberating.
  • How I talk with my family about things I don’t approve of. I can be firm, without getting upset.
  • I never have a bad day, only a few challenging moments. (This is an affirmation I learned from Jeffery Combs, but it’s actually become true for me).
  • I have learned the importance of thoughts. Brian Tracy says we can only focus on one thought, positive or negative. Our choice.
  • By applying the last from Brian Tracy, I have dramatically changed my level of happiness and self esteem.

The last two points are so important, I would like to focus on them a little more at the conclusion of this article  . The transformation in who I am and in my personal relationships is truly remarkable. This is beginning to seep into to my business relationships and connections as well.

If you would like to grow an MLM business or become a successful entrepreneur, ongoing personal development is the only way to guarantee success. To exponentially grow your profit potential, you should be investing about 5% of your income, time and energy toward growth and personal development.

This is about 8.4 hours per week, the equivalent of 2o minutes per day plus 6 hours at some point once, or 3 hours twice, per week. Most of us spend far more than that on entertainment.

For a $40,000 per year earner, as I was, that is about $166.67 per month or $5.55 per day. I used to spend more than that every day on just coffee. When I calculated  the numbers based on my adult life and income. I figured I was about $20,000-25,000 behind on this essential investment.

I will make this up over the next two years. If I had put the 8.4 hours I mentioned into personal development since the age of 18, that would equal nearly 10,000 hours of personal development and put me close to the level of extreme mastery.

With an adult life span of 62 years from the age of 18 to 80, just twenty minutes per day would put you midway between the point of basic mastery (about 5,000 hours) and complete mastery(about 10,000 hours) for most subjects when you reach 80 years of age (around 7,521 hours).

Do you feel like this is worth 20 minutes per day? I believe it’s worth 8.4 hours per week, honestly.

Here’s an even better plan. If you did 8.4 hours per week from the time you are 16 years of age, missing on rare occasions due to emergency, you would reach complete mastery of personal development at around 41, my current age.

How do you feel that kind of commitment would make your life different?

If you asked someone like Tony Robbins how much time and money he invested into his personal development,  and what his assets are, as well as his level of happiness, I believe the answer would be very interesting.

If your income has stagnated for years like mine did, you may be way behind on this. Don’t expect your income to catch up overnight…when you spend three hours reading a self help book that you paid twenty dollars for.

If your MLM business  is not growing and producing the reults you deserve, you should really take it up a notch with regard to your personal development.

I have made some of the strongest and most important business connections of the rest of my life over the last few months.

These are the key points of this transformation -

  • You can focus on a positive or negative thought, not both. The negative will drain your energy and repel what you desire. The positive will give you energy and attract what you desire.
  • Taking small, consistent steps leads to exponential growth. Don’t overwhelm yourself. It’s better to do something small and never miss. Read some personal development in your required area daily, even if just 15 minutes.
  • Your results today are a manifestation of yesterday’s beliefs. Change today’s beliefs to change tomorrow’s results. (I’ll give Jeff credit for this one too though I’ve heard similar thoughts from the Buddha and many other enlightened individuals).
  • The Law of Cause and Effect is the foundation underlying everything. To change the effect, understand the cause.

I hope that you will take what I have learned about the value of personal development and transform your life. If you are an MLM business entrepreneur, I hope you will utilize this to transform your business as well, moving into long term relationships and massive profit rapidly.

If an MLM business is something you’ve been looking at, you have may have some great reasons for not joining. I definitely would agree that making the right choice of product, company and the team you will work with is of powerful importance.

One of the difficulties is that many would be entrepreneurs do not have the background or expertise to determine what MLM business might be right for them. I certainly did not. I did tons of research and was more confused at the end of it than when I started.

In the end maybe I was lucky, or had an angel watching over me. Seems like a haphazard way to get involved considering that, as with me, you may have a family to consider when making this choice.

In the end, I just went with what seemed like a great team who had answers to many of the challenges faced by network marketers every day.

The issues of lack of money, lack of qualified leads, lack of marketing training and lack of duplication were designed into the system. By choosing someone who was getting results, had experience and who I connected with, I found someone who had already done the due diligence and found a fantastic company and product.

Since we both (me and my sponsor) were skeptical and did a massive amount of due diligence, you are looking at a team where people did not rush head first into an MLM business.

However when I realized the nature of the company, the product, and the amazing leaders involved, the choice became really easy. This may not be of great help. If the time you have left before your savings run out is of great concern, and you don’t have a great new prospective job, you may need to make a quick choice.

I believe that if you have indeed found the right company and product, it should be pretty obvious to you the more you research them.

I absolutely understand and empathize with you on that, as it was the same way for me. You don’t want to wait until your resources are gone to start out as an MLM business entrepreneur.

I certainly could have benefited from getting into the industry sooner, from that viewpoint. I do believe that you are exactly where you are meant to be and choose to be. There were lessons I needed to learn as an entrepreneur, before I took on the fantastic challenge of being a network marketing entrepreneur.

If you are new, it takes some time to gain traction. Obviously, being decisive and finding the right team/company/product and getting started is imperative if you are running short on time and finances.

Here is the thing, we are a lot shorter on time and finances than most of us realize. Most people do not truly grasp the magnitude of the mess our economy is in, because they are focused in on their personal financial situation.

It doesn’t help that the news is so negative about the economy, while not even showing us the facts on just how bad it really is. It makes things quite confusing for most people.

I am very positive about my future and opportunities and excited to be living today. At the same time I am sobered by the bleak reality that many people face. If you are a negative, cynical, & skeptical person, I highly recommend you do not read the rest of this article. It likely will not help you.

If you are extremely positive about meeting challenges and creating your own reality, read on and watch the videos. This will be very motivating for you.

If you believe that time is of the essence, based on your own personal financial and job situation, you would be shocked if it was revealed to you the potential exponential negative impact that the economy and other issues facing us today may have on your personal finances over the next few years.

Population growth – It has taken us from 10,000 B.C. to 1810 A.D. to reach from 1 million to 1 billion people on the planet. In the last 200 years we have added 5 billion. In the next 42 years we are projected to add 4 billion more.

It is thought that the earth can support between 9-12 billion people based on what we now know. This issue obviously must be dealt with.

The strain this will put on every resource financial and otherwise is difficult to fully grasp.

The fact that we are turning the corner on oil production does not make this picture any rosier. Species extinction, and water supply also have accelerated at a phenomenal rate and are turning the corner as well.

What’s really mind blowing to me is where we are with regard to economy, money supply and inflation. It takes money to create solutions, right?

It’s really interesting that I stumbled across this video series just after writing a chapter in my new book that discussed these issues a little. It looks as if I may have to devote an entire chapter to this, or write another entire book.

I obviously did not touch on this subject in enough detail in my book, now that I have seen far more of the actual data which is shown in this series.

With respect to our paper money, we have historical examples of 3800 currencies that have collapsed due to inflation and mismanagement. We have created in the last 4 months enough money (1 trillion) to equal all the money created in US history prior to that time.

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but our economic growth is not moving at that pace.

So how does this all impact your personal finances?

Well it’s this. This kind of inflation will make savings or the small hourly wages produced by most jobs evaporate as if by magic. It is imperative that we produce more profit than we currently feel we require. The value of the money we have and earn almost without a doubt will drop dramatically over the next several years.

The only real question is when it will accelerate to the point that everyone recognizes and accepts it to be true.

The MLM business and direct sales fields historically lead out of recessions going back to the great depressions. Massive fortunes have been created by those who moved into these industries at these times.

I believe that the potential for huge profit, and the fact that success here is ultimately based on growth and personal development, makes this the only choice for those people who truly care and also believe in themselves.

Creating profits that that may outpace inflation gives the potential to meet the economic challenges we face.

Developing ourselves to the truest measure of our full potential that we can achieve gives us hope to be able to solve the tremendous challenges our world faces.

Are you using attraction marketing online? Are you effectively creating influence with your network?

I was listening to a favorite training of mine with Brian Tracy about the power of how you think & how self doubt can ultimately destroy your potential for an entire lifetime.

Afterward, another of his audios started playing automatically and since I was doing work at that point that did not require creativity, I just let it play.

It turned out to be a great refresher of some important concepts relevant to attraction marketing. It brought me back to my Dale Carnegie “How To Win Friends And Influence People” training.”

(Which I need to listen to again by the way).

The most effective leaders are people who have mastered the skill of creating influence, not those who just have a title or position of some sort.

I am reminded of Princess Diana, who was so powerfully effective at creating influence. Even after her divorce and her title was stripped of her, she retained more popularity and influence than her royal ex-husband would ever have.

The number of people who tuned in to the funeral of this commoner and ultimate persuader numbered about 2 BILLION. Nearly half the world’s population at the time was in attendance.

This was not due to position, wealth or title. I would love to speak with someone who knew her personally.

I’m sure it would be revealed that she was a master of the age old art of influence, which both Dale Carnegie’s book and course, as well as the Brian Tracy training, “Communicate With Power” are based on.

Attraction marketing today could use a dose of this powerful relationship skill. These are the foundation of leadership and creating influence, such that people willingly do anything you ask.

It’s all about making people feel important and raising their self-esteem. This is how you become a leader, not by commanding others.

The keys that Brian gives to creating influence are known as the 5 A’s. Many of these are the same or similar concepts as you find in the Dale Carnegie book as well.

  • Acceptance, or the need to be accepted for who you are by others. This is as simple as just a genuine smile.
  • Appreciation, or saying thank you for any gesture, no matter how small. This raises both your self-esteem and that of another.
  • Admiration, or complimenting others on a trait or quality they possess, or something they have worked for.
  • Approval, praising others specifically about something they’ve done immediately after they do it.
  • Attention, or listening when someone talks. This is the most important key to leadership and persuasion.

The last is something I’ve grown remarkably at since getting into attraction marketing and can only imagine the magnitude of the success I would have had as a sales professional had I been a master of this in my previous career.

Brian gives four keys to attention since this is the most powerful and important of the five. They are:

  1. Listen with your full attention and don’t interrupt. Lean forward eagerly, hanging on every word.
  2. Always pause before replying. This will help you avoid the cardinal sin of interrupting, help you hear at a deeper level, and show that you consider what they said valuable.
  3. Question them for clarification. Questions like, how do you mean exactly, or how did you feel about that are very powerful.
  4. Paraphrase in your own words back to them what they said.

This is just one small part of what I learned out of this training, but these concepts are so universal anything I’ve ever read in the area that they are very important for anyone wanting to be a master of attraction marketing.

For attraction marketing success and to become a great leader, you must become a master of creating influence. You must listen and listen well.

He who listens ultimately controls the conversation.

If an MLM business is something you are considering now or have thought about, these questions may be burning up your brain.

Your family and friends may be thinking, or asking, “have you lost your mind?” This may be even more of an issue if, like me, you’ve been a serial entrepreneur or in (and out of) network marketing for years.

If you’ve been trying to figure out a way to achieve complete time and financial freedom for years, your time may have arrived.

It’s interesting to note that the same people who are asking you if you’ve lost your mind, or thinking it, are often the same ones who are willing to spend thousands of hours per year on mindless entertainment like video games, television, and surfing the internet.

These same dear loved ones won’t spend 15 minutes a day doing something to improve themselves and their value to the marketplace often even after they’ve lost their job.

MLM business and direct sales statistics and data over the last 60 and 100 plus years respectively don’t lie, however. On average, over time, about 97% of people who start in an MLM business or direct sales don’t make it. They quit.

This puts you in a tenuous position with today’s economic chaos. You must decide not if you can make it in these professions, but will you make it. As Yoda said in Star Wars, “There is no try, only do or do not.”

I suggest that if you are considering being an entrepreneur in network marketing today, you decide now to succeed or just figure out some other option.

Almost every person joining my team in the last couple of weeks has been a displaced professional.

One fantastic guy who joined a week and a half ago has a 7.5 months pregnant wife. He was working and living about 4 hours away in another state to take care of his family. He was going start an MLM business part time.

I told him, “Let’s get you in profit in two months so you can be home with your wife and new baby where you belong.” He called yesterday and told me that he had lost his job and was ready to go full time and create $7 Million in assets through network marketing in 5 years.

No crying about it, no complaining, no blaming others, just, “how can I make this the best thing that ever happened to my family?”

This is exactly the kind of person and mindset that should be in an MLM business now.

Now I’m not recommended you get involved with potions, lotions, pills & deals. I believe a lot of those over-priced, high competition products and MLM companies will not survive a recession. XELR8 announced yesterday they would not be paying reps for marketing their product and recruiting anymore. Making the choice of the right opportunity is more important than ever.

Now that we’ve discussed some of why network marketing may not be for you, let’s look more at why others are getting involved and why it might be the ultimate chance for freedom and profit.

There really is no more powerful way to create passive, residual profits and gain freedom in a recession. The data does not lie.

  • The best way to help the poor is to not be one of them.
  • Your friends and family are losing jobs left and right. Look around. How many times recently have you heard of someone saying they’ve lost their job or had their hours or pay cut?
  • The economy is getting worse, not better. When I keep hearing of more job loss and businesses shutting doors, you can feed me all the manipulated data you want about the economy improving. I know the truth.
  • Out of control spending makes inflation a when, not an if.
  • There is no light at the end of the tunnel. I worked my way through the ranks over twenty years to be directly under a company owner, going back to college twice. I still watched my job evaporate last year.
  • You will build new connections and relationships with exceptional people in your MLM business. I am working with people all over the world.
  • An MLM home business can save you $5,000-10,000 per year in taxes.

There are  certain industries that always grow in troubled times and lead the economy out of recession. Network marketing and direct sales, ongoing training and education & personal development are some of the most powerful in troubled times. Writing and being an author is another area of growth.

My current MLM business is in every one of these fields.

It’s up to you, but this is not the time to be indecisive.

Now is the time to master your fears and discover who you were born to be.

If you are, or absolutely believe that have it in you to be, one of the exceptional three percent, now is the time to find the right company, team and product for you, and for these times.

It’s time for a review of iLearning Global. Since I got into this industry, I’ve done reviews of other companies and many other topics relevant to the MLM business, but never revealed to you about iLearningGlobal.

I’ve actually never done a review of my own company. I did not want to just use my sites to say “hey join my company.” I believe it to be the ultimate company in the direct sales industry however, and it would be unfair of me to not review the company at some point.

Today is the day for iLG. This is a review of iLearningGlobal from someone who did join. I would like to reveal to you the secret of why I settled on this company and why I joined.

My initial approach was the same as many others with no knowledge of the network marketing industry. I was pretty skeptical of the industry, because I did not understand the business model.

It’s still all about relationship building, but there are tools today for that which massively leverage your time and efforts. None of these companies really seemed to me to be using them very effectively.

Most of it was just make a list, meet for coffee & show them the plan or place some classified ads, send them to a corporate replicated site or share the product and hope they buy some.

I mean, I am a professional. There are much more sophisticated and effective methods that create far more leverage of my time and money in 2009-2010, right?

Indeed there are!

And yet, almost every current great business leader and multi-millionaire that I follow was talking about network marketing being the most powerful opportunity for profit and freedom in our time.

How could I reveal that ultimate opportunity that seemed to be completely hidden? I ended up stumbling upon it searching the internet one day.

The most important thing I discovered looking at other MLM business opportunities, was that they were all created from the old red ocean business mindset. When I discovered iLG, I realized that I had found a true blue ocean network marketing opportunity.

It was a secret that was hidden in plain view.

Create Your Own Economy in 2010

Hello friends!

I wanted to do a quick post & update on how my MLM business is doing and where things are headed in 2010.

As of last week, I had 6 sign ups in my primary the last two days of the week, which means my business is officially paying for itself.

Over the last 6 weeks or so, I saw the end of my corporate job and career working for someone else. I will not go through that pain & struggle again.

Over that period, my decision to move from corporate America into being a full time entrepreneur in the world of providing training, marketing & network marketing has been confirmed. Over the last 6 weeks in my corporate job, I received only about 4-5 leads.

I honestly don’t know how they are even going to stay in business. This certainly was not enough work to meet my family’s requirements.

I know that many of you reading this are at this very moment struggling with the same decision.

For me, the story began long before that, but things really came to a head in August of 2009. Having been in a seasonal industry where things peaked in the summer, winters had historically been a struggle, & I would play catch up in the summer.

August was usually my best month for the years 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008. However 2009 was very different.

In August of 2009, I found myself deeply in debt & actually looking at my family being homeless. A convergence of circumstances made this a real possibility.

Volume & leads in my corporate job had shrunk to a point I’d never seen in the peak summer months.

Every vehicle I owned was broken. As a sales professional I had to be able to get to appointments. With this, my debt & lack of income, I actually was staring in the face of something I said I would never allow to happen again in my life…homelessness.

I had even tried to liquidate any of the things I owned of value, with no success. This was a painful time & very humiliating.

Working as much as 100 hours per week had not given me the freedom I wanted & deserved.

I had been dabbling at being an entrepreneur, spending thousands of dollars & hours of what I could spare with various online businesses. I had been a customer & been to meetings of various MLM business opportunities with friends & business associates. I had done tons of research on the industry.

I was 100% sold on the industry offering me the financial & time freedom I desperately desired and deserved.

Though they were great people, the products, companies and leadership in all of these options did not seem guaranteed survival in a deep recession.

Toward the end of that time I stumbled across a fantastic product, company, mentor, team and marketing system, & hit the ground running with that.

I was the most wise decision I’ve ever made in my life.

I’d like to thank everyone who was instrumental in this, but space is too short here.

There is no recession in MLSP & iLG. I want to encourage you to create your own economy in 2010, and realize that this recession is only real if you allow it to be. Take your MLM business to new heights in 2010!

MLM recruiting should be the focus of your business for a set amount of time every day. Ideally it should be 2-3 hours each day, 5 days per week.

To most people that does not sound like much, but it’s amazing how few people in the network marketing business do that. It doesn’t mean pitching every friend or family member. That isn’t really MLM prospecting. It doesn’t mean asking every stranger to join your business. It doesn’t mean cold-calling anyone you can get a phone number for.

It doesn’t mean spamming your new friends on facebook & twitter. It doesn’t mean posting ads all over other people’s walls.

What’s important is that the failure rate in network marketing is about 97% of every new person that joins. When you ask people to track their time & what they are doing each day, you find that people do everything but MLM prospecting & MLM recruiting.

Organizing their leads, working on getting the appearance of their blog right, buying some new training, shuffling paperclips, surfing the net looking for some secret are all things that take the place of what is absolutely essential.

This is one of the key points that was common among almost every speaker at the training conference I went to this past week. They all shared different insight, strategies & techniques for many aspects of your business.

However, I think there were very few that did not touch on this point. You have to let go of your fear of connecting with people & spend some time recruiting people into your network marketing business.

In fact, if you were going to do only one thing & nothing else, the only thing you could do exclusively, neglecting all else & still have a successful MLM business is recruit quality people into your team.

Why then do most of us do everything but MLM recruiting?

It really all comes down to self-esteem & mindset. You must realize that you are a talent scout. No matter where you are you should be looking for sharp individuals who connect with others well.

Now I don’t care whether you want to use my fantastic marketing system & leverage yourself through internet MLM. I don’t care if you want to wander in public places looking for the right people. I don’t care if you want to find a way to get quality people on the phone.

All of those things matter with respect to how much leverage you will get, but none of them is the deciding factor for your success.

What really matters is do you have the guts to stay in the game long enough to meet the right people(scout talent), qualify them(prospect) & then recruit them. If you do not, you will not make it no matter your product, company, marketing system or whether you’re offline or on the internet.

If your self-esteem is such that you don’t connect with people it doesn’t matter how you market your MLM business.

For instance, if I am doing MLM prospecting in public while about my daily affairs, I have a simple way of finding the right people. Understand that I am not looking to recruit everyone I meet. I’m actually looking to disqualify as many as possible to get to the best, so that I only spend time on those that are worth it.

It doesn’t mean the others are bad people, it just means why invest your time in someone who is going to “give it a try” & then quit in 3 months.

You want leverage & you will not get that by baby-sitting people who should not be entrepreneurs, whether online or off.

If you want to find the right people offline, just in chance meetings, try this:

* When you are out & about, every time you pass someone, smile & attempt to make eye contact. If they don’t return your smile & or they avert their eyes and/or look down or away, they are the wrong person.
* If they smile and return eye contact you have already made a connection. They have potential. About 8 or 9 out of 10 people will not pass this test. Go out in public & verify for yourself.
* Speak with those that return your smile & your eye contact. If they are warm & willing to connect with you, you have a winner. Introduce yourself & ask them a little about themselves.
* DON’T pitch your MLM business.
* After you’ve let them talk about themselves for a minute show some genuine interest, break off the conversation indicating you have an appointment.
* Tell them you would love to hear more, and get their contact info. Then move on.

You just scouted talent & you now have a prospect who doesn’t think you are a jerk. If you are the person who averted their eyes & did not smile back, you may have a struggle ahead of you no matter how you choose to build your business.

If I was MLM prospecting in public and this was the case, I would not have invited you into my team.

Look at your self-esteem, mindset and connect-ability in public chance encounters & you’ll have a pretty good idea of your chances for success and how hard you’ll have to work to achieve it.

MLM recruiting starts with connecting & that is absolutely the lifeblood of your new network marketing business.

Journey to More Heart Than Talent – Dallas

I just wanted to give you a quick up date on the Dallas “More Heart Than Talent” event presented by Jeffery & Erica Combs of Golden Mastermind Seminars, since I had been on the road & was not posting on my sites & networks for awhile.

I made it to the first day of the event on January the 7th & I was beat up. For those of you who don’t know, this event featured people speaking like Jeff & Erica Combs of Golden Mastermind Seminars & others.

I heard Craig & Giovanna Garcia, Robert Butwin, Myron Golden, Todd Falcone, Mark Hoverson, Eric Lofholm, Robert Shemin, Ken Dunn, Norbert Orlewicz, & others speak.

I arrived the afternoon of the 7th & did miss some of the earlier speakers the first day, unfortunately. However I did make it there & make it there alive, so I chose to be grateful, & make the most of it.

This was quite the journey, unlike any of the other hundreds of road trips I’ve made throughout my life. I got about 90 minutes from Dallas at 3 AM in the morning and hit black ice, did a couple of 360’s & ended up in a ditch stuck, but alive & in one piece. I called for my towing service and they were going to be two to three hours.

In the midst of an arctic blast, I knew that was too long with the amount of warm weather gear I had (not much of anything). Very fortunately, a trucker stopped to offer me help. We managed to get me out of the ditch but damaged the radiator in the process. I spent the better part of the night & the morning at a Wal-mart trying to stay warm.

During that time I worked to find a way to Dallas with no luck. It was far too cold to try & fix the car then, as I was freezing with multiple layers on just being inside the car without the wind blowing directly on me.

I finally managed to get the cracks patched with waterweld late in the morning. My cell phone had died & I was not able to reach the people I was in contact with who were trying to assist.

I want to quickly thank my sponsor/mentor & his wife. David & Ashley Wood are fantastic people. They went out of their way to try & find a way to get me the rest of the way there. About the same time as Ashley found a shuttle bus & bought me a ticket to Dallas, I was outside patching my car together.

I arrived in Dallas after being up for over 36 hours. I figured it was already afternoon, & after all the challenges, I might as well go to the event for a few hours before it was over for the day.

I got a few nice insights out of this for you:

  • The right people come along to assist when you truly require them.
  • Another was the Brian Tracy insight about how we verbalize our situations. I chose to look at this as an opportunity for personal growth, not a tragedy or obstacle.
  • Solving this & getting the rest of the way to Dallas required me to think in a non-linear way. The quick & effective problem solving I did to get it handled was pretty amazing.
  • I am one persistent guy, which you must be to have success at a new entrepreneurial enterprise in network marketing.

This event was well worth everything I went through to make it happen & I highly recommend any of Jeffery Comb’s seminars & products. If you can make it to the Orlando event with Cedrick Harris on January 16th, you deserve the benefit you will receive there. I forgot to mention above, Cedrick’s speech was phenomenal!

MLM Success NOW – The Mindset Factor

Mindset really matters for MLM success. Some of you may be getting tired of my mindset posts, but the responses I get are usually very positive.

I keep coming back to this topic partly because of the continued positive benefits to my business results & my transformation as a leader from adjustments in my mindset. Here are a couple of favorite quotes from the great Jim Rohn that really apply here -

“Success is a process, not a payoff.”

“Set a goal to become a millionaire, for what it will make of you to achieve it.”

You are always in a state of growth or decline, there is really no stasis. Sometimes you may be just barely inching forward. Sometimes you may plateau in a certain area, and then back it up a bit to be able to continue your progression.

In example, two steps forward, one step back. Another example would be progressive resistance training. It is nearly impossible for most people to continue to progress in any kind of physical training without backing off the intensity and/or volume once in awhile.

A quick side note is – those that do progress for weeks or months at physical training of some sort have exceptional mindsets.

The point here is that when I talk of being in growth or decline, I’m not speaking of your workout plan or some other certain area of your life, I’m referring to your personal development as a whole.

Growth leads to MLM success & achieving your dreams, while decline leads to loss, death & aging. Be honest with yourself & evaluate whether you are in a state of growth or decline. It is possible to grow as a person until your very last breath.

If you do so, you will remain sharp, retain a youthful mind & achieve your dreams, your purpose & your potential to the very end. I believe it was Teddy Roosevelt who died in his sleep & then they found a book under his pillow. Constant personal growth was the way he lived his life to the very end.

I’d like to invite you to be aware of your mindset & growth constantly. Make sure that you are always doing something for your personal development & to move you in the direction of reaching your full potential.

Even it is reading only 15-30 minutes per day in your field and/or watching educational video 10-30 minutes per day, do something.

This has been an absolute key to my success thus far, and every study done on millionaires & billionaires has found a close correlation between spending time every day on education/personal development & their level of success.

One of the other commonalities found among millionaires, is their perception of obstacles & their terminology regarding them. People who are extremely successful always look at these situations as a chance for growth.

Rather than an obstacle or problem, they consider them challenges, or even better, opportunities. This opens up your subconscious to potential solutions, rather than keeping your mind trapped in struggle or at the level of the problem itself.

Great MLM success is achievable through constant attention to mindset & making that habit.
